Women in Banking" Initiative to Empower Female Entrepreneurs

OPI Bank has launched a groundbreaking new program called “Women in Banking,” aimed at supporting female entrepreneurs and promoting financial empowerment among women across Iraq.

The initiative includes:

  • Special low-interest business loans for women-led startups and SMEs

  • Free financial planning workshops for female business owners

  • Priority banking services and advisory support through a dedicated Women’s Banking Desk

  • Mentorship programs connecting successful female business leaders with young entrepreneurs

“Empowering women economically is vital for building stronger communities and a more resilient economy,” said Ms. Laila Hassan, Head of Retail Banking at OPI Bank. “Through ‘Women in Banking,’ we are helping break barriers and providing Iraqi women with the tools, resources, and confidence they need to succeed.”

The first phase of the program is being launched in Baghdad and Basra, with plans to expand into Erbil and Najaf by the end of the year.

Local business organizations and women’s advocacy groups have praised OPI Bank’s initiative as a significant contribution to Iraq’s growing entrepreneurial ecosystem.
